Exhaust pipe broken... weld it?
Ok, my '91 Accord's exhaust pipe has rusted out at one of the joints (right back from the muffler, the long S piece that goes from one end of the car to the other) and come apart... its just sort of hanging there, and so the exhaust isnt attached to the muffler at all.
The rest of the section of piping looks alright, so i was thinking maybe it would be possible to just weld it back together, or maybe cut off a section of the pipe at the end and weld and extension onto it.
Basically i'm trying to find the most cost effective way to fix this, could someone please help me out? Would i be better off just going to the junkyard and buying a new part? (its quite a big part... any help on how much it would cost if this is the best route would help too)
Thanks very much,

no offense but that's a terrible description. most people refer to the exhaust in 3 main sections A-pipe or downpipe, B-pipe (mid section), and rear section or muffler.
to answer your question, if the exhaust needs to be repaired on a bend, you're probably better off going to a muffler shop and getting a whole new section. If you want to repair a straight section, purchase some piping and cut the damage section off and bolt up new piping with exhaust clamps. You can't really weld rusted through metal.

Sorry i really don't know much about the mechanical side of things as far as cars go... just learning.
Thanks very much. Its on a straight stretch. So basically, just clamp on new piping with exhaust clamps, and don't weld at all?
