Car dies out while driving....
Posting it up for a friend.
Ok, this is the story. While he was driving, the car starts to bogs out and shuts off. He trys to start it again and it idles at 1k for a few secs and shuts off again. Theres no check engine light. I'd check the spark plugs and fuel its seems to be fine. Car cranked over sounds like it wanted to start but shuts off again. What to check for? Can it be the fuel fitter? Ground, IAVC? BTW, the car is a 95 Acura GSR.

My car had the same problem last week, and did a few things to it and it started working fine. I disconnected the ground cable from the battery, and then checked the tps sensor and cleaned it, opened the dizzy and checked for a bad rotor, and cap made sure that all spark plug cables were making contact.I checked my vac hoses that go to my air intake manifoldas well. Installed a fuel pressure guage to check on fuel pressure should be at 35- 40 psi stock and higher 40-50 and even 60 on a different fuel pump ie 255. Hooked up the battery cable, rebooted the computer, and retuned the vtec cont. So guess you can say that it could be a great deal of things. After that it was running fine...

The car has sparks.

take the fuel filter off and blow through it in the same way fuel would flow through it. if you have to blow with any kind of force , you need a filter.
othere than that it could be loosing spark.

i know you said it had spark but it sounds exactly like the problem that i had like two days ago, but it wound up being the damn coil. 63.95 at autozone.

mine died out like that but i was moving so it roll started itself and then a few blocks up it didi it again, turned out my car had a bi of a water leak and got my ECU a little damp....good luck man
I would recommend checking the ignitor (aka ignition control module.) My car had the same probs yours did intermittently for a few months. It would start boggin, then would die (usually at a stop) then would chug but not start until i let it sit for a good 5 or so minutes. Then finally last week i went for a drive and for a minute or two the tach needle started jumping irradically (the telltale sign of an ignitor issue)and about an hour later i was dead at a stoplight and the couldnt restart no matter how long i waited. I had to tow it to the closest dealership and they replaced the ignitor and she runs like a champ now.
The new part is about $150 bucks, and its about 2 hours labor.

check your cat-converter. if it is clogged, it would have the same symptoms. A buddy of mine had the same problem. Fuel sys. was fine. Ignition sys. was fine. it ended up being the catalytic converter being clogged up. it doesnt hurt to take it apart and look. hope that helps.
I had a similiar problem and just like everyone else on here has said it was the coil. I checked spark and I had it, I even bought one and mergered it out (high voltage volt meter) and it tested fine, but when I bought a new one and tried it ... it worked like a champ.
i had the same problem on a friends car....it was the spark plug wires!!!
check those and if that doesnt work check your dizzy maybe somehow it moved (loose screws??)

i have similar problem on my dc, the car turns over but sometimes wont start,if i disconnect the MAP sensor it turn on, then ill be driving and it bogs out turning off,i thought it was the fuel filter and bought a new 1 ran good for about a day then same problem happened, batterys brand new iam gessing its a fuel problem or a sensor?any IDEAS?
My friend had the same problem. Turns out one of the wires on the plugs that connect to his map sensor was lose. Kind of unexpected but its worth checking. Maybe the Idle air control valve needs to be cleaned.
