Default LS1 owner new to the import scene needs a little help

Hey everyone, im new here. Just came by to ask a couple questions. I have a Black 99 Camaro SS. Its pretty much stock except for a borla muffler. My friend has a 97 Integra GSR and he just put a Greddy turbo kit with a front mount intercooler. He said he is waiting for his ecu to get chipped with uberdata and is doin the obd2 to obd1. He will be running 8psi and we both have stock tires and i have a 6spd and he has a 5spd. Can anyone tell me what will happen when we race? I asked the folks back at LS1tech.com and they said it would get pretty close, buty i would have the advantage from a dig. I just want to know what im up against here, because i know almost nothing about imports. I was born and bred into muscle cars. If this is in the wrong place, then mods, please move this to the appropriate thread. Thanks

Bench racing

You're gonna get 10 people who will say you're gonna lose, then you're gonna get 15 other people who say the first 10 people are full of ****, then you're gonna get 5 guys who have "been there done that" and they will say something completely different from the first two groups.

Then this thread is going to go on for three pages and you still wont have a definitive answer.

So instead of going through all that, why not just race the guy and let us all know the outcome?

-"Which is faster", "Who will win" and "What can I smoke" posts are not allowed for obvious reasons. The answer was, is, and always will be...go race and find out.

yeah thats gonna be a close race.. but is it goign to be a 1/4 mile race? or from a roll on the freeeway.. from a roll on the freeway i'd say the turbo GSR. Boosted cars have alot of high end power.

jeez, some of you guys need to take a chill pill. i asked a simple question. the guy keeps stalling for some reason, saying its almost done, but hes been saying that for a month now. i cant just go race him if his car is going to stay in his garage, so i asked about what would happen and what he meant by the uberdata and obd1 obd2, since i dont really know what that means. thanks for the warm welcome.

Wow a bunch of domestic hater, LS1 is a lovely engine and aint no 4 banger can expletive with. If the integra is running the *stock* greddy boost setting then you should beat him but if he retuned it for let say 12 psi then you probably lose but not by too much.

if its a well tuned 8 psi, i see no reason why the gsr wouldnt pull on you. you wont get raped by any means, and would probably take him from a dig though. a guy i know has a very well tuned b16 daily driven hatch; it hits 11.4 on 10 psi. a bigger turbo with a very well tuned 8 psi > a smallish turbo with poorly tuned 12 psi. if the car hasnt been ready for a month, then hes probably dyno tuning it and getting it tuned pretty well. although the greddy 18g kit isnt all that great of a kit. he shouldve gotten a t3/t4. you should venture into the forced induction forum, and see what kinda power/ETs turbo gsrs with similar setups are making

he lives in CA, so im assuming his deciding factor was the carb legality (currently greddy is the only kit w/ Carb exemption in california)... totally understandable.... i hate california for that reason. and honestly....just go race him.... i would say that it would depend a lot on the driver i know a few guys putting down just around 240+ to the wheels, but most of that isn't released until vtec hits...so a rolling start on the freeway...i think the GSR would take it....from a stop...you'd have the advantage...but he may pull...to be honest...too many factors..just go race

ps... uberdata = type of tuning software
...... OBD1 = our old computers
...... OBD2 = our new computers
...... OBD2's can not be programmed to make up for the lack of fuel caused by the excess air from a forced induction engine... so therefor you buy an OBD1 computer, program it to fix the fuel curve...and bam! car is faster

just give him time, tuning after a turbo is something that needs to be done carefully and not rushed....

i really really want to race this guy. he told me that i was the reason he put the turbo on his car. he used to have an old 89 5.0 hatch with a heads/cam/intake/exhaust that i smoked and this is kinda his revenge i guess. im just waiting on the weather and his tuning now. and thanks for helping me out. i didnt really come onto this board only to post that question though. the truth is, i really dont know anything about imports, so i thought that this would be as good a time as any to find out all i can since im gonna race one. the loser has to post the video of the race on their myspace. it makes it interesting... the vid will also be on here and on ls1tech in case anyone wants to have a gander

you get a shitload of cool points for the simple fact that you came here and "represented" (if you will) the domestic crowd with class. Most of the ***** on this board don't have half your class. Too many people on here think that hondas are the only way to live.

I agree with that too now that I think about it. Glad you took the actual initiative to find out more about what you were questioning rather than acting like most domestic owners in the sense that you own the world.
