Default emissions removal PROBLEM BAD :*(

ok i tried to remove the emissions on my 88 hf (ive done it before on a couple cars so i thought id be okay) and i f'd something up basically the car idles fine when you start it up but if you rev it when the revs fall down it will shake and the revs fall to about 500. what i did was remove the charcoal canister and the assembly of vacuum diaphragms above it that was under the black cover right above the charcoal canister. i have the charcoal canister red hose coming from firewall connected straight to the IM now. does anyone have a diagram for removing the emissions stuff?? i know one of the things on that assembly is the map sensor and i hooked that back up and the other is the fuel regulating valve for cold startups (i think) that has the 2 vacuum ports on it i have that hooked up too. is there anything else on that vacuum assembly thats necessary to make the car run right?? i will post a picture as soon as i can get one

When removing the charcoal canister you should end up with just this left, the firewall hose is actual a fuel vent line so if you have it hooked up to your throttle body it is injesting fuel vapors.

i'm not sure if you can remove that stuff and still use your HF ecu, you might have to get a PM6? i removed it all from my HF, threw it in the trash when i swapped my D15b7 in and ran a PM6 ecu, no problems what so ever

well there are 2 connectors that went to that assembly, one was for the MAF and the other had 2 things on it one of which is the cold start valve i think. the other i cut off because the car was idling fine (stupid )

The hose is just directed downwards so if any fuel vapors want to make their way out they are getting a first class trip to the ground. I removed the Canistor and the little valve/solenoid dealy mounted beside the map sensor.

the CVC is part of the EGR system - the only thing in the box that you really need is the MAP - if you remove the cannister, you have no need for the purge solenoid - if you remove the EGR, you don't need the other 2 - however, if you remove the EGR and keep the HF ECU you will get CEL and code for EGR

that is from the USDM CRX factory manual

yes, MAP vacuum comes off port on throttle body (sticking out toward passenger side) closest to front of car - if you remove cannister, you will have red cloth braided hose coming from the firewall - this is vent from fuel tank - don't connect it to anything and don't plug it up unless you get a vented gas cap

Wow, those HFs have one hell of a nice vacuum system going on over there.

In all my time with the motor out I don't think I have taken notice to the hole over on the fender, is that the original drain out of the charcoal canister?
