anyone can help? pleeez
a B18B rs
used to have aem cai now an unidentified short ram possibly from ebay
AEM fuel rail with regulator,no internal engine work done yet, DC header with greddy exhaust. stock ignition,
recently replaced spark plugs, adjusted valves(or somethin like that) fuel filter was changed around 8 months ago.(i ran out of gas)
and i also have worn out rear and bottom engine mounts
if anyone heard how the WRX sounds and how the bike engine or a normal honda engine sounds kinda buzzin.
well my engine sounds like WRX when accelerating up to around 4K and then it sounds smoother like honda engine supposed to sound
and it kinda lags and got slow responce
the problems i have or had or thought to have is
possibly bad fuel system or ignition system
i replaced fuel filer, checked fuel pump, ran injector cleaner about 3 times
i had an MSD ign on it untill i burned out the MSD coil (because of not insulated wire going from coil to ICM)
so i found a new(used)complete dizzy and replaced it because i ve notticed some noise where dizzy connects to the cam kinda like bearing but it didnt go away completely after replacing but i used the coil from b16 vtec head i got can it be the problem?
coupla days ago i was entering the freeway and went to redline ( i do that ocassionally) and about 6k it sounded like somethin was loose i heard clunking noise
also how does knocking sound? maybe that was it
but usually when i accelerate with open throttle the car sounds kinda like WRX like its chokin or somethin but it keeps acceleratin and around 4500-5000k it starts to smooth out usually.

detonation sounds like gravel kicking up and hitting the wheel well, except it's coming from the engine bay. I'd pull your spark plugs and see what they look like.

im curious because if its any stock honda...well thats the knock hes hearing...valves need adjusting probably now because of all that overrevving ....worse he might have bent a valve

hahaha, Idiocy at its best .
I would replace your mounts first of all. That can cause premature wear on other componets of the driveterrain.
How new are the wires?Spark Plugs? Or even the cap and rotor on the dizzy you bought. If they are fairly old or have a good bit of miles or you don't know when they were changed give it a tune-up and go from there

well i ordered urethane inserts from ES
the wires are msd red ones and fairly new(about 2 years or so)
i just replaced spark plugs,dizzy rotor,cap,
i looked at sparkplugs yesterday and they re not fouled or anything
did a seafoam about 3 months ago and just had some injector cleaner in there recently
also the local honda repair dude adjusted my valves about 6 months ago and was surprised because they didnt really need adjustments
but im concerned that he forgot to tighten one of the valves
also i never run on lower than premium fuel mostly i run on 91

First of all, get rid of those MSD wires. Those are solid core wires, and are intended for racing purposes only. NGK wires are your best bet, and they are relatively cheap. Plus, you're not going to gain any hp with a set of plug wires.
Second of all, you shouldn't run premium fuel in a LS. The combustion chamber is designed to take advantage of the faster burning 87 octane. When you run 91 octane, the burn rate is slower, and the igntion timing is set to take advantage of 87 octane fuel. So when you introduce 91, the timing is now optimized for the burn rate, so you actually lose a little power. You are just wasting money, and getting no benefits from it. http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/...14426
ok, about your problem. It sounds to me like something went wrong on the inside of the motor. You should run a compression test, and a leakdown test, to see what condition the engine is in on the inside. They are realatively easy, and you get a lot of info. If everything checks out with the motor, I would check the ignition system to see if you have spark on all four cylinders. If that checks out, then check your fuel system.

what aboutadvanced ignition?
can i still run 87 because i heard alot of people say i cant run less than 89 with advanced timing thats why i ve been using 91

Let me guess, You just rotated the dizzy to advance the timing?? You need to actually set that **** with a timing gun, or better yet, put an engine managment system on it, like Uberdata, Hondata, Microtech, or AEM, and get it dyno tuned. You'd get a lot better results.
If you just rotated the dizzy, and put high octane fuel in it, you might gain like .5 horsepower to the wheels if that, for $3.00 more everytime you fill up. You might not gain any at all. Totally not worth it.
I don't know if you did it that way or not, but that's what a lot of people do.

no i actually used a timing gun and i wasnt doin it by myself
also about a week ago i tried to start the car and it made a weird bubbly sound but it started can it be that i got a lil water in my intake? itsa short ram but when i open the hood the water kinda dropped right on the intake filter(i moved the filter)
right now its back at 14degrees but the engine sounds same
and thanks for the article vtec its really helpfull

No problem for the article. I am glad to hear that you actually advanced your timing the right way. Most people just rotate it. But yes, if you set it, then you would want to run premium fuel.
I would run the leakdown test, and compression test to see about the internal condition of the engine.
You said a little water dripped onto the filter, or the filter got soaked, and it dripped when you moved it?? Cause if a little bit dripped on it, its nothing to worry about really. I run a cold air, inside the fender with no splashguard, and it gets drenched, but as long as it doesn't get submerged, its fine.
Definitely do the tests and let us know what happens from there.
