Stupid CRX Compatibility Question
Hi all, this question has probably been asked a million times and i cant find it on red pepper racing. I need to find an answer to figure it out. I have a d15a3 87 crx si. I just need to know junkyard parts compatibility for engine performance. I already know of 86-88 integra injectors and ecu but that is all i know. Swapping the d16a1 is outta my league at the moment and i need to know if the throttlebody or intake mani off the 86-88 integra is workable or anything else for that matter. I already have cai+muffler and if I started with 91 hp im hoping to now have 100 tops. Is this proper? What kinda differences would I see with integra parts?
acually, i would really like to help you, but i don't know. i wouldn't think the d16a1 intake would fit, but you never know. i'd look for a cam for your motor (or anything similar) but i don't think you're gonna find one. good luck. oh, also, a d16a1 swap isn't that hard if you find an earlier one. just bite the bullet!
thanks, i would bite the bullet and swap in the d16a1 but the hardest thing ive done on a honda is change the clutch. I probably am capable of doing the d16a1 swap but i dont have a hoist or a detailed enough write up on how to do such as what i need and what will fit. Any help would be grately appreciated.
if you cant find it at rpr your not looking hard enough. its been said many times that the intake mani will NOT fit. i believe there is an adaptor plate for the tb that someone makes on rpr or you could have one made yourself. you need to do real engine modifications like a cam and higher compression pistons etc if you want to make alot more power. personally id do a junkyard turbo setup or the d16a1 swap. its not that hard trust me. there are alot of writeups on rpr about the d16a1 swap on rpr. look in the faq's. rent a hoist, find a friend with one.

yes but expect to pay more. i know where i go if i pull it its 59.99 + tax. i was quoted 100 one time for them to take it out for me. best thing to do is find a junkyard that pulls the good engines and stores them. they charge more for the engines but they are known good engines and usually come with a 30 day warranty.
Don't have a detailed enough write up? Search around red pepper racing, there are some great write ups. I found this write up (http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/how-to/84-87hybrid/) WAY too easily, it's more detailed then you could ever hope for. Since you have an Si, the swap will be easiest as you already have the fueling system necessary.
Check around at local rental places, I rent out a hoist for 28 bucks. Harbor freight also has some okay deals on engine hoists, check them out:

of course. just take your time and dont rush anything and you will be fine. trust me the feeling of doing it yourself and having it running will be well worth it. plus all of what you learn while doing it.. i wish i would have done my own swap but i didnt have a engine hoist or the time to do it. but thats why now im dong the turbo kit myself ( except for the tuning).
Haha, you should see some of the topics I started when I took out my engine. It's not that bad, as others have said, if you've done a clutch before, you can do this. An engine hoist made it very very easy. All I have to say is, don't be afraid to ask questions
