Default stainless to aluminized/mild?

I know it's not the best thing to do, but I have a 3 -> 4" flare that is 304 stainless and I am thinking of using aluminized/mild steel piping.

Is it okay to mate these two metals together? I hear welding with a mig will cause additional "splatter." which I've seen before. I think the metals have different expansion rates. So the weld could crack?

What if it were tig welded? I'm using it for a downpipe setup. so I'm just seeing how it's worked for you guys.

Sorry if it's been talked about before.

Welding 304 to mild steel with a TIG is no problem, use a 309 filler rod.
