What to look out for when buying a 'Teg?
After being away from the honda scene for 5 years (went to school in montana, bought a jeep) I'm back in the market to get another honda. I had a '96 civic before and feel it's time to look at integras. Just wondering what things I should look at in 'teg when test driving / inspecting. Most of the stuff i'll be looking at will be higher miles (80k +). I'd like to get into a gsr if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

first thing i would check is the vin numbers..door/tranny/dash/ see if they all match..u dnt wanna get across with some stolen parts..
after that..check the interior,exterior,..rev the car see if it throws black smoke, text drive it see if the wheels are well balanced..i could go on and on..
the fact is it really depends on how much your willing to pay for a car/ most cheap cars arent that great..i just got lucky on my gsr i only got it for $3,000..
good luck!!!!

Dude check CARFAX first. If possible, take it for test drive and do a compression check, rev that baby to 7 or 8k and see how it sounds, performs, or is it blowing black smoke out the exhaust? Just a few things I did when I test drove my 98 gsr.
Check conditions of belts, hoses, etc......if over 80k see if timing belt has been replaced if possible. I mean you can tell a great deal about integras if you take the time to look and ask questions, etc....
Either way, good luck and I'm sure you'll find a decent car.

Carfax is good, check for damage or wrinkles in the engine bay's sheetmetal(its a sign of serious damage to the body or frame more likely), also check the rear wheel wells, on 94-96 tegs they start rusting up, causing the bumper to sag. Mileage and wear and tear is a great thing also lol. Well, good luck!

car fax.... visually, i'd look to see if the body lines up, the hatch and doors close right, etc. Look underneath the car for rust, torn boots/broken axels, look for leaks...the trunk (water) and in the engine bay (oil leaks). Check the oil to see if its dirty, if regular maintenance has been done, when the last tim the belts/hoses/etc was replaced. Check to see how the tires are...you can sometimes tell how the car has been driven by the wear of the tires.
good luck
