Strange Idle Surge
Hey guys
My car was really wierd today and had a idle surge and I am hoping you guys will be able to help me out here. Well I got a 03 Coupe with about 20K on the clock, manual. Today after work I started the car and let it sit for a bit (it's cold here in Nj). Well after about a minute or two I backed up a car about 50foot to let my co worker out. After that I was just sitting on the car listening to music. Well I noticed the rpm meter was flickering in between 1400-1600rpm. And then all of a sudden it dropped and the temp gauge went up a notch. Well it was ideling and then it bounced to 2000rpm so i thought i had my foot on the gas and i romved my foot but it still stayed at 2000rpm then I tapped the gas a bit so see if it would fall and it did, then it went put again. The engine is pretty warm at this point so put it in first and the car went back to normal idle well when i came to stop at the stop sign about 150foot down the rpm jumped back to 2000rpm so i pulled to the site and shut the car off and restarted. After I restared it didn't act up again. On the mod's I got a AEM CAI with bypass, that's it. I hope you guys will be able to shine some light on the subject. Thank you in advance for all the help.

to tell you the truth, i would not worry about it unless this comes up again, it could just be a hiccup with the car, like the cooling fans turning on, the car bumping up the idle but then it realizes its too cold so brings the car idle up higher to warm it up...can't really exaplain it but I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again but then again I assume you have warranty on it and you could bring it back to the dealer to have them check it out but if it never happens again they might not be able to fix anything though...Good Luck with that
