The vtec solenoid on my engine has been leaking oil so I bought a new gasket from acura and just got that and put it in hoping it would stop the leaking. Well it didn't so now i don't know what to do. Does anyone know why it might be leaking. Also can I put some rtv around the edge to try and stop it.

 

Try a little bit of Honda Bond around the VTEC solenoid seal.

 

use silicone on the vtec selenoid

 

are you sure its the vtec solenoid and not the cam seal.

 

yea i'm sure because i just replace the cam seals and valve cover seal. I put rtv on it so I will see what happens when i start it later.

 

first clean it the surface with brake fluid..turn your car back up..see where the leak is comin from...

 

its a honda thing, every vtec iv had has done it a little

 

I wouldnt start putting a **** ton of hondabond on there just to stop the leak. sounds like a cam seal to me, but make sure all the gaskets fit properly and torque everything down to the right specs. a little hondabond is alright, but dont substitute it for a bad gasket.
