Default Fiberglass Resin and Mat question

Is it better t get all of that off of the internet? I went to a local car paint and body shop supply store(its where i got my rage gold body filler, its good stuff) and they wanted $47 for a gallon of fiberglass resin. I read on the net that it should b around $15-20 per gallon but I cant find a marine/boat store around that sells that stuff. where else sells that stuff? i know walmart sells it but its $11 for a quart. the matt isnt that expensive from them tho. if it is better to get that stuff off of the net, where is the best place? any info would be alot of help.

if you buy local it is pretty pricey. Prices keep going up on everything. I pay about $600 for a 55 gallon drum now for normal poly resin.

alright thanks. ill probably buy local because a quart of it is $11 at walmart(its the bondo brand, I know evercoat rage gold is alot better than the actual bondo bodyfiller but what about their fiberglass stuff?) so ill probably just get a few cans there.

the bondo brand stuff isn't all that good IMHO. I've used it once and didn't like it as much as what I got from us composites.

I actually get my (bondo) resin at AutoZone, cheapest local place I've found. Tap plastics has resin (and several types of epoxy resin as well) but it's much more expensive. I'm sure it might be cheaper to find at a boat shop but I'm too lazy to look one up. Autozone's gallon resin is much cheaper than the TAP equivilent, and about 10 bucks cheaper than the same thing at OSH.

I haven't tried any other resins though so I can't vouch for how crappy the bondo stuff is, I do hate their body filler.

Another place you can look online is at Fibreglast.com, they've got a pretty extensive composites forum too if you're looking for information.
