What the crap are JDM Parking poles?????
Like the title says....I've seen 'em on the front bumper of the cars from japan and they are called parking poles......what the hell do they do? what are they for?
They're for better judging the distance between your bumper and the one of the car in front of you for parking. If they're on any usdm vehicle they're the definition of gay.

Do what you want, just know that it serves no real purpose on a tiny car with huge streets (comparitively). If you're trying to make your car into a jdm *****-mobile then this is must have.

It goes down when you turn off the car.
It does have a function and you can use it if you'd like. I find myself parking to close to a wall sometimes or even too close to a car in a parking garage, so I could find it functional, to better judge the distance. People hate cuz that's what they do, but know that It does serve a purpose, whether you need it or not, it's your prerogotive, you be the judge.
There's some places in San Diego where the is no different than in JDM Land when it comes to parking, tends to be Asian restaurant parking areas, go figure.

i always thought thought the parking pole was because japanese people are shorter and can't see out of the car as well.
but, if you can't park your car without hitting anything, get the expletive off the road.

Superautobacs here in SoCal sells a few different manual type poles where they just stick onto the headlight or front bumper and use the headlight beam to make it glow. I'll be getting one for the xB since it's hard to tell where the front bumper is on the box when parallel parking.
