Default Airbag Question for an 03 Civic Si HBack- Tough Question

This question is pretty tough and I would be suprised if anyone can tackle it.

I have a 2003 Civic Si that I bought with minor front end damage. The airbags were not deployed in the car, however the airbag light is on and the driver side seatbelt will not retract.

I took it to the dealer. They say the computer says the module and both front sensors are bad. I know the seatbelt has a srs sensor in it, but they claim its ok since its not showing up.

Ive never seen front sensors go bad when the airbag isnt deployed. I dont want to pay big $$$ for the module and sensors if I dont need them and then it turn out to be the seatbelt or just the module itself(which can be reprogrammed for $135 vs the $600 the dealer wants)

Anyone run into this type of situation yet on these cars?

I work in an autobodyshop and have installed many airbags. My advice would be to buy the seatbelt and put it in. Disconnect your battery and let the car sit for 30 minutes. Then take out the seat belt and replace it with the new one. Hold the positive and negative terminals together for 30 seconds. Then hook up the positive first and then the negative. This procedure resets the computer and if the light is still on then the only thing left is the module/brain. If no light then viola you problem is solved. You need the seatbelt no matter what so hoperfully everything works out.
