looking for setup help
I have a 95 civic cx with a k20a2 and I want to get into auto-x and maybe some day track the car at least once. But I am looking for help with the suspension, I have been told to try the koni yellow/GC coilover setup with 400lbs springs all the way around. What are some of you guys opinions, I mean I hear that you want to back of the car to rotate. I am a fairly good driver and love going down some country curvy roads but my car in its current state its not even fun to drive. I need to get a front end alignment and it needs shocks and springs and possibly sway bars. Any help as better than just sitting here being a noob.
I'm guilty of suggesting this setup.
Why?
It'll be neutral and slightly understeer prone - but can still have a bit of lift off oversteer tendency.
The rates aren't too harsh but are at the upper limits of what the off the shelf koni's can handle.
The shocks can be revalved to handle higher rates somewhere along the line of 400f/ 600r that is considered "ideal" for autox, and can be found along with the springs in the classifieds or rr/ax forum used for a bit of a savings.
Try this 400f/ 400r setup for a little while as a n00b autoxer and then you can add an itr rear swaybar for more oversteer. Then later add higher rates in the rear. This way you can start autoxing immediatly and have some fun + learn, then change your setup as you get better and develop your own driving style and preferences.....
Oh yeah - #1 thing you should get is some decent tires for autox. Don't skimp because the most awesome suspension can handle like **** on shoddy rubber...
