Default BlackTrax Performence wait time: Time to throw in my cards?

I have an h23 at blacktrax in milpitas. Im getting the bottom end built, which includes a sleving by AEBS. They said that blocks usually take 3-5 weeks to build, adn when asked told me I could be assured it would take much longer at all.

I dropped the block off on the 27th of OCTOBER. its been two months now, with NO call from them, and no certain dates. I called a week ago, and was told that the block would be in that week. Now when i contacted them they told me that AEBS doesnt ship until after new years they dont even have the block in house yet, and I'm out almost $1500, plus the price of my h23 block.

Nearly a month late and they dont have a timetable for me, what should i do? Should I get my money back and head somewhere else? Is two months of waiting a normal acceptable amount? I understand that it is not entirly their fault (AEBS simply hasnt shippd them back the block), but really that isn't my problem. I work in contracting, and if I subcontract someone, it's my responsibility to make sure that they get the job done.

What do you guys think? It's tough for me caus i really like the people who work there, and they arent being spiteful or anything. Lmme know, thanks.

Sounds tgo me like holiday rush, give them some time to work it out after the new year, maybe aebs lets the employees all have time off for families etc, so give it a lil more time, then see what they say!

It's understandable that they should've contacted you as soon as they knew that things weren't going to go according to the schedule. They are good folks & will get the job done in the end, it does usually take longer than expected for just about any shop out there, so just be patient & give them a call every once in a while so they know you really are itching to get it done.

yea, im bein patient, it just sucks to be out so much money and not have any idea whats happening to it.

Again they're really good people, which adds to the confusion I have over it all.

hey, 2 months wait time is nothing in the parts/car world. it shouldn't be that way, and ETA's should be more accurate, but it's the nature of the beast.

I've waited waaaaaay longer.

thing is, make sure they don't forget you, but don't pester them. make it a weekly reminder sort of deal when you call once or twice a week to ask what's going on. holiday rush makes a lot of sense, and if the blacktrax guys see this:

communicate w/ your customers! they'll love you for it!

to me waiting that long is not cool, but i suppose it happens.
If you can see if its possible to go by the shop in person soon, that way you are not a phone call you are a person standing right there in front of them.

hey thanks for the advice guys. It's true that this is an industry with slow turnaround, I just like to be kept on top of things and all.

The big thing that keeps me flexible about the timeframe is their work, its damn good. I suppose I'll just keep reminding them, and make sure they know I want an engine soon. It's also AEBS whos dragging their feet, so directing my frustration at blacktrax isnt entirely fair.

hey Jason,
I have been in contact with you thru AIM. We are just waiting on the block. It should be here anytime. Ive told you about the Holiday rush, and how a lot of the industry is closed untill Jan 3rd. I really appologize for the delay. Not to make any other excuses, but UPS/FedEx is also closed for a few days due to the holidays and where they fall this year.

AEBS is well aware of my upset with the situation. They are very sorry and made your block a priority. They have had a flood of engines for the down season. Ive informed them of this thread also. The block should arrive today or tomorrow. I have spoken with them and theyve said the block has been shipped.

You know we always take care of you. And I cant wait to see your beast FINALLY get done. Weve been talking about it for almost 2 years now.

I will call you with any further updates, instead of AIM if thats what you would like.

Natalie

See, I told you guys they were good people. This is kind of just my "im frustrated and don't know what to do thread." I think it's become obvious that the problem isn't on your end, and that you're doing all you can to get things moving. If you're reading this thread in order to get information on blacktrax, this should prove that in the end they really do care about their customers. Thanks, and happy new year!

i would expect it to take a lil longer b/c of all the people that drive winter beaters and pull the engines out of their nice cars to build over the winter...
