why don't you just plug it in when you go to take emissions and then take it off as soon as you are done with it? Or will that not work at all?
Why cant you use the OBD 1 ecu with hondata for emissions?

my car is obd2 and i believe it is against the law to go back to obd1. i would drive with the hondata to the emissions place but if i dont start the car with the obd2 ecu i will throw a gas tank code. i must use the p72 from a cold start to not throw codes.

dude emissions laws fu*king blow. states like CA should suck a ball sack for making ppl go thru that bullshit of smogging then trying to get all other states to do the same. nothing but a damn headache bro.
hope you figure something out. keep us all posted on what you end up doing. i will be in the same boat as you in a few months.

You're problem is the high compression, not you're ecu. I know! California has no love for us!
