Default My new CRX project / daily driver / first car! (pics)

I bought this beauty yesterday, paid $2100 altogether. I'm 17; this is my first car, and my daily. It's also a year older than I am..

1988 CRX DX- 141,000 miles
Stock, Automatic , AC

The bumper got hit a bit. I need to take it off and look at the mounts...

Looking forward to swapping an Si tranny into this thing... hit me up if you've got an 88 in good shape...

The previous owner had a bunch of audio stuff in the back. Lots of holes, lots of wires, lots of wood screws.

Somebody also had a dash mat, left this crap all over the dash. Anybody know good ways to get rid of it?

First things first, I've got to fix some little things..
-new shocks
-rebuilt cargo area (or replace them... if you have any parts in good shape, let me know)
-fix the bumper and lights
-remove the tint

Once I get that stuff done I'll do the tranny swap, and probably drop in a D15b at the same time. fun stuff. Tell me what you think, give advice, flame me, whatever.

Pretty damn clean car. Price is a little to high but hey who doesn't pay a bunch on their first car. I say keep the tint and drop it on some 99-00 Si rims and switch out the tails to 91 Si. I can keep going

Congrats on a nice, clean first car that most guys your age would kill for (I sure would have). If the stuff on the dash is just sticky adhesive on top of an otherwise decent dash cover, try using some WD-40 on a rag to soften and disolve the adhesive. Just keep it wet and rub it around a bit and it will soften up without hurting the dash itself. Can't see it that well.

Don't be took freaked about it being an automatic yet, use and enjoy the car as it is and don't crew with it too much and risky hurting the Honda reliability factor. I do agree that a sensible drop and some not too big wheels (the 99-00 Civic Si wheels would look great) will really spiff it up. Have fun and welcome to the CRX group.

PS- I vote to keep the tint unless it is illegal. I immediately tint everything, in Texas I think it would really help.

I have the EXACT situation that you have with the bumper. In my case its the bumper itself, not the mounts. Take it off and look at it yourself, its not as bad as you would think. Let me know if you find out how to fix those recessed headlights, I have one as well.

EDIT: Yeah, get some Goo gone or Goof off and that stuff on your dash will come right off. You'll REALLY need some (and some steel woll\brillo pads) if you want to get that tint off, trust me. I spent 5 hours getting my cheezy faided purple tint off.

Great looking car man!

Don't remove the tint...you're going to need it here in the Texas sun.

Guys, stop ragging on him for the price of the car. He lives in a (mostly) rural town in TX, not California where CRX's are a dime a dozen. He paid about average for the area, and got a better than average condition car.

That paint is awesome, especially to be here from TX. Must have been garage kept/car cover stored because that paint is exceptional to be from this savage land!

I'd have paid that if it were a stickshift.

Nice find. Real good start of a project.
I also say keep the tint. I drove a CRX from Boise to Vegas and back last summer. Without the tint I would have died.
