Default Need Help! Suspension

Okay heres the deal I own a 97 Honda Prelude SH, and I need suspension. I want to do it all at once but Im a college student so Im not rich. Im going to have around 500 bucks to spend, and Im trying to spend out 600 or so for my suspension set up. What should I get everything I find says it excludes 97-01 sh, so I dont even know what is compatible with my car. If you guys could tell me what you guys are riding and how much you like it, and the cost that would be great, also any other information is greatly appreciated being im a Total newb with suspension, and I want to do it right, not half-as*ed, Thanks again

Most springs have the "excludes SH" unless used with an aftermarket strut. Your OEM struts aren't designed to be used with lowering springs. Also aftermarket stuts usually warn you as to how far you can lower it with, and if you drop it past that it voids the warranty. As far as cheap, you can find tons of stuff on Ebay, people seem to like the Ground Control coilovers those are fairly cheap and have the nice height adjustability feature , as far as struts to use with those, do a search and find what people are running. I'm running the Neuspeed springs (1.7" drop) with KYBs and i'm happy for now with my 99sh and like the setup, but i'm saving for some Tein Flex or something similar. At 1.7" drop i bottom out a little on speed bumps so if you go that low beware and use caution. Search more and you will find what different people are running.

Right now im looking at Tokico illuminas, but Im not sure what spring to go with. I like tein's, but I dont know if they will work number 1 and number 2 will that be a good enough set up?

the one thing I know for an SH, my friends sis has Koni yellows and h&r springs and her car scrapes on everything, and doesnt ride too hot, while ground controls ride nice and can adjust the height for driving conditions, but the shocks seem to do well on the same car with them. I have neuspeed race on my 93, and it needs new shocks on it, but the ride height is decent.

Just to let you know a local shop around my house told me that tokico sucks, they used them in their cars several times and they kept blowing up on them, just to let you know that was their experience with tokicos and these people are really into imports and have all kinds of stuff going on on their shop and store and know about suspensions pretty well.

From what I have heard, your best bet on a spring/damper combination is the Koni Yellow/Ground Control setup. Keep in mind that I have not ever had this setup, but this is the opinion of most of the members of this forum.
