Some recommend GM Synchromesh

Some recommend Honda MTF

Some recommend 10/40 motor oil

The penzoil syncromesh claims to be a replacement for the "GM Synchromesh", I have been using it for 8 months and it works fine. Plus you can find it anywhere.

I recommend Synchromesh for the fluid. The Honda MTF is just normal oil lubrican with added friction modifiers. It works wonders.

The Helms Service manual recommends the 10/40 Motor oil which works just as fine. However, you will feel the transmission a little rougher.

dont get the regular GM syncromesh. Get the GM syncromesh Friction Modified. Thats the stuff that i have in my tranny and it shifts like butter. No grinds or anything. Your going to need just about 2-3 quarts. I would get 3 quarts to be on the safe side. I got mine from a GM dealership for like 7 bucks, but thats with my goodyear emp discount.
