Car feels unstable after taking the rear wing off.......
I recently de-badged my ITR and even took the wing off due to the recent theft attempt
........is it just me or the wing actually provides stability?? Ever since I took the wing off, these 80MPH turns feels so unstable...

its not some generic ebay wing for the looks. its a 1 piece sturdy wing that was put there for a reason..
just like the porshes and other new sport cars have (the ones that come up after they hit a certain mph) its for stability, down force, etc..
but it wont give you more HP.. thats what stickers are for!

I've been taking these 80MPH turns on this one part of the freeway and never had my rear end slide out until I took the wing off.... guess the wing stays on

You might as well leave the wing on, any theif stealing ITR's will know how to spot one even if there are no badges or wings.

Are you braindead? Your car stands out like a sore thumb. If you added some rust to the rear 1/4, some dings here and there, steelies with **** tires, unpainted sidemoulding and possibly a color change from that shiny perfect paint you might be able to attempt to fool someone...

Wing is for a reason...
But ditch the CW wheels if you are trying to hide it, those things are a dead give a way.
And for all those who complain about his speed, LIKE YOU DON'T HAVE A FAVORITE TURN?!!??

No, it's not just you. Jason Franza is a good person to ask about the wing removal's adverse aerodynamic effect at high speed.

The wing is straight in the air stream. It doesn't create down force so much as it smooths out the air flow off the hatch, causing that lift inducing turbulence to form further behind the car where it will not serve to lift the rear wheels off the ground.
This is why so many little wings on cars these days are just completely ineffective, as was that little wing on the GS-R, and even the little optional wing on the 2006 Accord, TSX and TL.
The wing has to be high enough that it smooths out the airflow coming off the roof or the hatch, and the DC2 ITR OEM wing is one of the few that really did that.

Or you can just put a 2ft wicker on the back! That will indeed give you some downforce. Are you sure the car stepped out on you because of your wing removal? Did you check tire pressures?
First I'd say to drive safer/slower. But we all know that we go out and have fun sometimes so use your head about it. In all seriousness, take it to the track. Because if you equate the rear sliding out to the removal of the wing alone it's probably best you don't tempt fate.

Or lift throttle oversteer, or bald tires, or unsettling the car mid corner for whatever reason, or looks like it's dumped so who knows what the springs/shocks are like or what kind of rear bar is in the mix, or DING DING DING!!! Number One Answer = DRIVER ERROR!!!
So keep it safe and take it to the track.

Unless they dont walk up to the car and notice the interior!! Seats, Carbon fiber, shift ****, floor mats, dash, door panels... etc..!!

I like the idea of 5 lug steelies and putting some K-Mart hubcaps on them that have 4 fake lug nuts. The only problem is that you have to look like a tool while driving the car, but at least you get to keep it.

Uh..I do go to the track....
so I think i know my car pretty well by now...

anyways...my suspension setup is fine....just the rear end feels different now w/ out the wing..... thanks for your opinion

well.. its going to feel different.
and besides.. that wing was designed to be put on there by some engineers who probably get paid more than both of us put together. for some reason, i think ill leave mine on.
