color coating on rod bearings??
i called acura, cuz i was going to change out my rod bearings, since i am changing my rings, and took out the rods.. figured why not.. so i tell them its for 99' Gsr.. and he asks what color? do you know what color i need?
ok that helps alot. i need to know what color i need. i don't understand why there would be different clearances for stock crank/rods..
I'll let someone answer that chapter for you. it's a long one.
here, read this first as to why and then we can get to the color codes after you're done:

on yoru crank you should have letters near each rod journel, then on the rod, a number,(or it may be vice versa) then you use the honda manuel to figure out which color to use by looking at a chart.
or if the motor is in clean/nice shape inside, you can see what color bearings you have already, there marked on the side's of the bearings.

you need to remove your oil pan and read the letters machined into the block and the numbers stamped on the crank to get the correct bearing sizes/colours.
get rid of that chilton manual and buy a helms manual...you wont regret it.
