Simple Suspension Advice?
Hey guys.
Well, I got some money that I want to spend on upgrading my suspension, and I wanted to see what you guys suggest. I'm on a tight budget, so I'm thinking of getting Tein STech lowering springs and mabye a tower front strut bar. Do the Tein STech lowering springs sound good or is there something better within that price range? Also, is it worth getting a tower front strut bar? If so, what brand would you suggest?
Also, I heard from another guy that if I do get the STech lowering springs, I will also need to get some new shocks that will fit them otherwise mine will break. Is this true? If so, what kind of shocks would you suggest I get?
Thanks!

I suggest looking into some H&R sport springs. They are the best on the market in my opinion. You can run stock shocks with these springs....although I suggest upgrading the shocks to KYB AGX ADJ shocks.
I wouldn't even mess with a front lower tie bar. I suggest buying a rear sway bar as your next upgrade after upgrading you suspension.
I suggest buying a progress rear adjustable sway bar....with metal endlinks (they won't bend). Adjust the rear of the car to reduce the understeer for your driving style. These two mods will be the most beneficial change to suspension for handling.
#1 biggest difference being the tires.

It'd be easier to tell you the best setup if we knew what your budget was (other then tight). If you have the money, new shocks are always good.
Eibach Pro kit > H&R sport springs > Tein S Tech

I really don't want to have to replace the shocks as they are expensive as hell. I'm looking to spend under $400 for springs and shocks. I don't want to compromise quality though, I want something that will last and not screw up my car.

don't be surprised by blown shocks eventually, after lowering your car on stock shocks.
the s-techs are nice and soft so the stock shocks won't be too bouncy, however, you're better off getting shocks that are made for lowered cars like the KYB AGX and the Koni Yellow.
Save your money and don't get the strut bar.
if good handling is your priority, then good shocks are your priority, even more so than springs.

Thanks, I definitely don't plan on sticking with stock shocks then. Unfortunately, I don't believe Koni has any Yellows for the Type SH, do they? (When looking at some sites, all I found were shocks for the non-SH). The KYBs look pretty good, but are still expensive. I suppose I'll just save up and get them in that nifty package with the Tein STechs. Any other suggestions for cheap but good quality shocks and lowering springs?
if you are looking under $400 the s tech or h&r would do as far as shocks just get the kyb gr2 you don't need anything more complicated than that for street driving. get that and I'm sure you will be under $400. jsut shop around till you finf the right price go to ebay, shox.com etc;

the fronts are struts and the rear shocks. just request a quote and don't worry they know what to send you. also remember you don't need the agx adjustable shocks if you are only doing street driving go for the the simple gr-2 and it will be almost half cheaper than the agx's.

It doesn't matter if the parts are designated as for a Type-SH or a base model as long as you replace the springs and the dampers together.

wrong. in a double wishbone suspension they are shocks. in a strut suspension, they are struts. they are both dampers, but struts are load bearing members of a suspension while shocks are not. preludes and most other hondas use shocks.
also, the GR-2's don't have the valving to damp spring rates common to most lowering spring sets. they also don't do well with the shortened travel from lowering a car. you're better off avoiding the GR-2, toki blue, and koni red if you are going to lower your car. they are oem replacements.
