88 si tranny with 7 1/2in clutch hold 200whp???
i have a d15b... i bought an si tranny for it its a 88 tranny... i didint know that the input shafts were different... i also diditn know that the 90-91 trannys had like a 8 3/8 inch clutch and the 88's had a 7 1/2 inch clutch... i found a flywheel and clutch kit for 100$ so i can make this transmission work... but with my plans for next winter i wanna build a turbo kit and im very anxious to hit 200whp but im not sure if a 7 1/2 inch clutch will handle this...
does anybody have a 88 transmission with a high hp motor... if so did you have to buy a different clutch and do you think the small clutch will hold up or should i go find a 90-91 si tranny???
or better yet does anybody know of a company that makes a 8 3/8 inch clutch that will fit the 21 spline input shaft so i can use the flywheel thats in the car and the pressure plate that is in the car
any help is greatly appreciated

both act and http://www.lsdmotorsports.com/ have the 8 3/8 clutch kits for a 21 spline. You need a 90+ flywheel, the pressure plate is the same so if you want to change to a 89+trans later you just need a new clutch disc. I have this combo from lsd in my awd hatch with a 88 wagovan trans.
85-87 Prelude Si is the same size clutch disc as a 90-91 Civic except with 21 splines instead of 20. You can use that and a 90-91 Civic pressure plate/flywheel in a 21 spline tranny.
yes but a stock clutch disc and plate will not hold 200hp for long. My new stock 7.5 was less than a week of 12psi love.
