Bought new crx, some codes came on
Hi there im new to the forum because I just got a 89 crx si.
Now to the good stuff, the crx has 3 codes, 1 is the code 1 (o2 sensor) and thats because it doesnt have any cat. The second is the code 3 ( map sensor) But the car is running fine, all the connections are good in the map sensor. the third one is the code 9 (cylinder position sensor (CYP)) and someone told me thats because they changed the timing in the crx......
How should I know if my map sensor or distributor is bad ?
The crx runs very fast and good; it doesnt have any leaks at all and it has 150,000 miles........ tranny is fine, the only problem is some engine mounts needs to be replaced and axle joints... thats all
any help will be appreciated thanks
BTW
I recently changed/added the following
1. new 10w40 oil ( I live in Puerto Rico )
2. kn oil filter
3. new spark plugs (denso)
4. new intake filter
5. new coolan with water in the radiator
6. fuel system cleaner
It runned much better after all those changes.

hmmm.... i don't remember getting code 1 while running a hollow cat. bad O2 sensor = bad fuel economy.
recheck your timing and try resetting the ECU by removing the HAZ fuse.

its probaly a bad o2 sensor I had a cat back with no cat on mine no codes at all I thikn that would be your o2 sensor there what map sensor you got as well do you have the hf map sensor that has like 20 god awful vacum lines u dont even need. I got a dx in mine and I only have 3 vacum lines I think. and the CYP I dont know about that one. Never heard it really.
