As the title says. If U go to a mobile electronics shop they'll tell U they have the best on the market alot of times just to sell U 1 of their alarm systems. I know there are several brands out but just wanted to know some of U guys opinions. Thanks!
Clifford Avantgard 5.. BUT.. an alarm is only as good as the installation.
$100 alarm installed by a professional > $1000 alarm installed by some circuit city / best buy "lets put the brain right underneath the dashboard in plain sight" crap.

there is no such thing as the best alarm... they can all be easily bypassed... with all the countless ITR owners and Countless thefts ... the best of the best alarms have been gotten around ... there is NOTHING to stop your R from getting stolen except one thing... TIMING , if its ment to be it will be if not then your R will be gone. I had mine for 3 years and sold it never had 1 scare, while others have bought theres to have it stolen only 2 weeks after owning it.
My advice, a decent alarm, kill switch, and a club... dont go to crazy because no matter what if its gonna happen they will get it.

Fortunantly I live in the middle of nowhere. Most people who follow me to my house for the first time (especialy @ night) wonder if I'm taking them to a place never to be found again. For 1 an alarm is only as good as the install & the precautions to go w/ it to make it as difficult as possible to get the car w/out a roll-back tow truck. Bit like my dad always said, "if they want it bad enough they will do whatever it takes to get it". This remains true today.
i agree a alarm is as good as the installer. i have the compustar 2w900fm. has not failed me yet. i love the range on this thing. pretty far. parking in a garage is also very helpful. then i have a couple of other things on top of that also. your asking about an alarm? get outta here and go get one. any alarm is better then no alarm.
hey tim, this is shawn from autolabz. i'd recommend the nicest clifford we stock. it's the same one i have on my R. it's got the 2-way pager, and it's like $449 installed. if you want us to put it on, i'll also share with you some of the things i've done to my car to make it as hard to jack as i could.
if they want it, they'll take it, but a really good alarm, garage, big dog in the garage, fuel pump cutoff, distributor power cutoff, etc. make it a pain in the *** for thieves. I've got all of these things on mine, so all i can do is keep my fingers crossed and be aware of who is around/knows what i have.
I guess i could call myself lucky to be inthe center of the import scene in bham, workin where i do, so i'm prety sure i'd know who broke in/stole something if it ever happened.
i try to stay on top of the shady people around here. my shop and a couple others in town stay in touch with each other about what customer cars have been messed with, and who's selling what, so we keep the import crime to a mininum around here.
if everyone knows everyone, like we pretty much do with as small of a scene as birmingham has, it realy doesn't pay for the theives to take from anyone.
oh well, back to the story, just let me know if you want DEI or Clifford anything, because I'll get you a really good deal on it, and i won't share with anyone what we do to your car.

definitely worth it IMO. i'm pretty paranoid about my car (as i'd assume most ITR owners are) and i love knowing when someone's messing with it. every now and then i'll let my battery go dead, and i'm freakin out about if my car's safe or not.
ok, well my post makes me sound like a psycho, and i'm not, but ya know..... whatever
anyways-- 2-way-

That's too much work just to save a car, and it's just a car.
But even with all that I could have your car in 30 seconds anyways.

I have an old clifford intelliguard, works good minus the brain dying twice. Has clifford's quality control gone up or down after they were bought?
