97 jdm itr with intake/exhaust/headers soon to come.
i am looking into a chipped p28 from phearable.net becuase i want to illiminate the speed gov on the stock jdm p73 ecu, want vtec to kick in a little sooner, wouldnt mind the shift light and 2step launch controll they offer.
like i said the motor is fairly stock for now, just with a short ram intake, and 2.5 inch straight pipe to an es tuning muffler. i am looking into a set of 4-1 headers also. i plan on much more internal work down the line, but for now i want to know if with a chipped p28 would i see some gains?

what do u guys recommend, stick with stock p73 for now, or chipped p28?

what would be an ideal vtec crossover point?

what basemap should i request?

any info from those with experience is appreciated.

 

Well, p73 means you've got an itr engine in there right? And that means you have a knock sensor and secondary butterflies, right? If so, you'll want to not get a chipped p28, as this has neither, but mehbe a chipped p72.

Edit: Forgot you said you had the itr engine, so yeah.

 

How are you gonna get a shift lite just from an ECU?

CEL lights up for the shift light, it's nifty.

p73 ecu....jdm itr.
there arent any secondary butterfly's in a type r, that is in a gsr motor.

im pretty sure that jdm type r's dont have knock sensors....can someone confirm?

 

Ah, no iabs in the itr, wtf, I suck. In any case, who needs a knock sensor, :-p, if worse comes to worse just send him a p30. Anyway, get it chipped, def. Also see if he'll do full throttle shift, it's awesome.
