Gasolene Octane Numbers
Greetings from across the Atlantic,
I noticed when comparing specifications for the Integra Type R that US models have a lower compression ratio than JDM and UK/Europe. I assume this is down to gasolene grades.
In the UK we have regular unleaded (95 octane) super unleaded (97 octance) but recently Shell bought out a fuel supposedly developed with Ferrari that it calls 'Optimax' (98.6 minimum octane). This is actually priced in between regUL and supUL and the B18C6 engine definitely performs better on it - owners handbook suggests 98octane minimum. In Japan I believe they use 100 octane fuel.
Can anyone outline what is recommended for the Acura Integra and what grades are readily available in the US.
Cheers
Steve

The highest I can get in Pennsylvania is 94 from Sunoco. Of course I could go to a track and get some higher octane race fuel, but that is impractical.
My b16 does pretty well on 93 and 94 but I don't think I really want to try anything lower.
