Default Test Pipe Gains

I've seen a lot of talk about test pipes and the noise factor and such. I'm just curious about the performance gains on replacing the stock CC w/ a test pipe on a JRSC Si. Currently puts out 190 whp. Any rough estimates? Is it worth it?

I've heard its worth it if you have a header with a large collector, 2.5 or so.

on most cars its about 2-3hp and 1-2 ft lbs of torque. Pumping as much air as you have going through there, it very well could be a major bottle neck trying to pump that many cfm's through there, with 190hp, I'd say you could probably gain 5-8hp and 3-5 ft lbs. Hell, they're cheap, do it. You can get custom ones made for roughly $50 (most shops) or if you have a hookup, it could be as cheap as how good of your hookup. Or you can go to http://www.testpipe.com and get one for rougly $30.

i am actually running a tanabe exhaust. image-evo is just a crew of friends i kick it with... if you are looking for a pretty good test pipe i recommend the pipes from godspeed, they are pretty good. i got the test pipe for OBD-II cars so i can tune my car with that extra bung in the pipe. my car is OBD-I a, 95 coupe with B16a and type-r parts

I dont like test pipes its because

1. It makes the ugly raspping sound.
2. It eats up the cotton stuff inside the muffler.
3. Getting caught with it in kali is a big *** fine.

but i still have one in my car imma take it out soon though. I think its good to have it around when you go to the track or something but other than that i dont like it and its not worth the 3 extra hp it gives.

if you have a dohc vtec motor or a wild *** cams in a LS i recommend a test pipe. when vtec kicks in, you are gonna need all the freeflow you can get.
