So i have been thorugh about 4 motors now. The 1st was a boosted ZC that lasted about 2 years and the rings finally gave. then came a mini me that only lasted about 30 minutes....i know....
After that came a A6 that i thought was gonna be a good get around motor and only turned out to be a oil burning POS.
With all that said i came up on a Z6 long block at the local pick a part. It cost me about $115 out the door. The thing is that im curious to know if the Z6 distro will work even though im staying OBD0?
Before you all get your panties up, dont go telling me to run OBD1 on my car cause thats not the direction i want to go in. in all fairness i dont think ill even activate vtec. Not unless i can get the 1-wire Vtec to work with Turbo Edit. With that said, i know that the colors are the same as the ones on the OBD0 distros. I looked into it and the only reason i cant use my A6 distributor is cause the legs wont match up and its not gonna work. If i had a Y8 head this would not be a problem. However, i dont have a Y8 head on the block so im fucked.
anyway anyone with experience in doing this swap please feel free to chime in. And if you dont know what you are talking about dont bother. The last thing i need is more misinformation. Im going on a hunch but i think it will work as both distributors have the CAS inside the distributor. Hope im right.

If you aren't going to use vtec, you might as well just use that A6 head. It will make more power than just the low-cam will in that Z6.
The problem with the z6 is the wierd dizzzy mount points. I can't recall off hand if it would work w/z6 dizzy & obd0. Use the A6 dizzy if you still have it.

I agree with dude above me about the head swap and you will have to use the A6 dizzy. The A6's dizzy legs will have to be modified if u plan on keeping the Z6 head on there. Obd-1 dizzys will not work off of Obd-0 ecu's.
I'm using an A6 distributor on my z6.
The bottom front leg I sliced open (looks like a mouth now) and the top one I used as is. So for the bottom one, I used a nice large washer so it could hold that front leg. I didn't bother with the back bottom one.
I'm using Turboedit and 1wire vtec activation using an auto relay.
