Default lower splash guard

can you remove the lower splash guard under the headers (the part that usually starts to sag like hell) without any negative side effects? will water from rain puddles mess up any o2 sensors or anything? there are a couple of big puddles i drive thru so just wondering if water will mess anything up if i drive thru a deep puddle and things get submerged, headers maybe or anything. also, would water mess up an intercooler? this is for a 96 hatch by the way. thanks

Na I'd say leave it. Negative side effects, I dunno. But I guess you'll be gettin water and crap in the engine bay.

I removed mine this weekend. The header warped it like mentioned above. I know of a couple of other guys that have taken it off as well. As far as water in the engine bay, dont know yet.
