Default So yea THIS sucked to do!...*Dynamat Removal*

Dont exactly know WHY i did this, but i took the carpet out to do like a better cleaning and all, but something about the dynomat drove me crazy and i was driven to remove it, and also found nise sized wholes in my chassis, o well.....

felt like my car was gettin fat so i put her on a diet

BEFORE:

AFTER:
looks so much cleaner too

acetone didn't help, so i ended up using a heat gun and some off-the-shelves putty knives....i scraped a lil bit of the paint off so i just sprayed with some red..i know it doesnt match but whatever its red..its close enough.....burnt my hand a couple times with the heat gun too...o well..time to head out to a nice ol' x-mas family dinner

merry x-mas and a happy new year

looks good, but next time use the dry ice. no mess/smell, 15 mins, and you can have a beer while you wait for it to freeze

i got mine at a party supply place. also available at ice cream and other food packing places, and (duh) dry ice mfg's.

i asked for scrap (they can't sell the stuff that isn't in nice blocks) and they gave me 30lbs for free. it felt like the right amount after doing it. about a large paper groccery bag full.

mine was 28lbs. i have a pic somewhere on the bathroom scale- i'll post later if i find it.

the only time i'd leave it is if you are underweight for a race class, as it it is in a good location if you need ballast.

I used the dry ice. Ten minutes to do the hole project.

i did this myself. I used a pry bar and a rubber mallet, thats it. It just broke apart and went flying everywhere.

http://www.crxcommunity.com/vi...light=

Not counting what flew out of the car Im up to 10.8 lbs, not including any of the padding off the firewall.

HFs only have some sock in the front wheel wells.

I did the opposite in my car I put in ~60lbs of Mass Loaded Vinyl on my floor, and then Deadening in the doors, etc.

It shouldn't be much louder, the deadeners here are mass loaders, they add weight to the panels to keep down the ressonance of the metal panels. They do marginally block sound, but that's not the primary function.

I'm planning on doing this soon, if you live near or go to a University with a good science department you can use liquid nitrogen... I know a lab where I can get a dewer full for free. Should be even faster than the dry ice, just pour it in the floorpans and it will freeze that **** instantly. Might not even have time for a full beer!

Greg, you did it in the black CRX? How was the difference when you put the interior back in, really loud? I would imagine the carpet and panels take a lot of the noise (the sand noise and crap coming off the road, like a certain gutted hatch I've driven recently).

I just used an air hammer with a flat bit on the end, works good, probably not as well as dry ice but better than doing it by hand.
