Default Larger single piston caliper vs Smaller dual piston calipers?

I've been looking up specs at acuraautomotiveparts.net, and was wondering how a ITR single piston caliper (57mm piston) would compare to a Legend GS/LS dual piston caliper (38mm/40mm). How would braking differ among the two? Pedal feel?

btw, anyone know if the 3rd gen GSR's used the same front calipers as the ITR? the part numbers listed at acuraautomotiveparts.net is the same, but I havent heard it mentioned anywhere else before. I don't think they are the same calipers, but wanted to double check.

2 pistons= better pad ware than a single. it has an increased surface area

ITR and other integras don't share the same caliper in front. I'd check out fastbrakes.com for more info.

The 98-01 Accord V-6 caliper can be made to work on lesser integras w/ a little bit of dremeling, so that they become an ITR caliper.

ITR calipers won't fit other integras w/o more involved machining than the Accord calipers require.

I'd like to know more about the Legend calipers, too. I imagine they need machining to fit. Actually, better, more even pad wear and better engagement is the primary benefit of more pistons. The force issue is only slightly relevant.

If you check the prelude and accord forums, there are several legend caliper swaps in progress. I own an accord and am still considering my options. Accord wagon calipers are the same ones as the ITR, single piston 57mm. The legend dual-piston calipers are 40/38mm.

btw, the dual-piston legend caliper and the ITR/Wagon caliper both use the same part number from AEM... would either caliper affect brake pad life at all?

One point about part #s. Many online parts suppliers use "in-house" numbering, so it is wise to call up Honda and Acura dealers for part #s to be sure. It could be they give all calipers the same # at the website you saw.

Yes, pad life can be affected, but rotor life more likely since the caliper bracket won't clear the rotor w/o machining when using the Prelude VTEC/Accord Wagon/Accord V-6 calipers

Anyhow, I'm interested in seeing if Legend calipers will fit an Integra, not 'ludes or 'cords.
