Thoughts on This?
Well I own a 2005 Si whcih will be paid off once my parents house sells. My mom is paying my monthly payments and I'm a 20 yr old that will go to college in a month and poor old me has no job.
I'm keeping my Si stock with only Tein springs and sometime this year I want to get a GSR or Type-R as a second project car. I just want to know if the Type-R is much better then my 05 Si or if you Type-R owners like the 04-05 Si and if they both maybe feel about equal. Just want to know how these Type-R's are.
Thanks in advance.

I thought project cars were for people that were financially independent.
Personally, I'd sell the Civic, get a part-time job, research the ITR's a little, then make a decision whether it's the right car for you.
As far as the comparision, yes, the R is no supercar, but in comparision, it's a lot more nimble. Also, given your age, your insurance will double.

personally, i'd much rather have the R than any year Si's. test drive an R yourself (if you can find one), and decide which one you like better, and focus on one car until you finish school and find a job. Merry Christmas!

and at least pay for the car you currently "own".
The Si is a nice *** car for a 20 year old with no job. Once it is payed off you should say thank you very much and drive it until you have money to pay for stuff yourself.

Good luck man with whatever you do. Just keep pushing for what you want to do and don't quit...

If your going to college and want a type R I honestly would just keep the civic. You will find yourself worried as heck driving the R around town. Although owning a R is pretty cool.... really cool...really really cool!
To be 20yrs old, at college and have a mom good enough to make your payments on an 05 car i'd say your damn lucky and should just keep the car and at least get some value out of it once its paid off. When i was 20yrs old (long time ago) i had a POS nissan bluebird....i could only dream of owning a practically new car, let alone have one. Keep the Si!!!!!!

having a project car is not as important as a family member or your education. cars can wait and you have an 05 Si. I'd just say wait a few years and get everything straightened out. sounds like its going kind of rough, and owning two cars, making payments on them, and trying to build one of them back up is going to cost a pretty penny. after all, parts for a ITR rebuild isn't going to be a cheap thing to do, and you most likely wont make a large profit (if any) off of it. I suggest you get everything straightened out first. like i said before, having a project car is not as important as a family member or your education.
just my .02

im worried the acura type-R will be harder to find as time goes by.i found one for 10G in white ...its a 98. i think its a great price.i have always like older Honda's. But my friends think im going crazy lol they tell me my car is great and its new and stuff like that. one of them told me to get a K20A...which i like the idea.with a k20a my car becomes a CTR.but i love the b-seires although its no k20a.
i just really like the acura type-R but there so hard to find and other then the one i found for 10G others in the past have many miles and are 18-22G and thats not worth it at all.this really sux.as time goes by the R will be harder to find and this bugs me alot.i guess if it all goes wrong ill swap a k20a in my si.

You'll still be able to find the car after you finish college. College only takes what? 4 - 5 years? You can finish in 3 if you wanted. And while in college, you can apply for paid internships to get college credit and earn money. Education first...car second...

Definitely keep the Si.
Don't have to worry about theft as much. Insurance is cheaper. It's going to be paid off. It has a warranty. It's new. Still has tons of potential and lots of aftermarket support for the future.
Repeating this again......IT HAS A WARRANTY STILL!!! Very important to someone who is in school and potentially low on funds. You can't afford to have something go wrong.
