What does H-T think???
Alright well i dont want to drag this on and i know there is another thread, but i wanted to make an official thread to see what the H-T community thinks about this idea. The idea is that there should be a "Newb Section" on where people new to the honda scene like myself can ask those questions that people that have been on the honda scene for a while think are "dumb" or "stupid". I know some new people that dont know a lot about honda engines and other stuff might hold back in asking questions because they dont want to get flammed or just made to look dumb because they dont know the answer. So i think this section would be great for things like this, and as far as people not having patience to asnwer those questions i think there are a plenty of knowledgable people out there that dont mind helping out. Omniman and a bunch of other people do it all the time.
So again what do you guys think?
:EDIT: i know this is ultimately the owners and mods decision, so mods dont take this thread the wrong way.

think its not a good or bad idea.. think they shouldnt be able to post at all. i think you should be forced to read past articles and have the search button made a bit bigger.
you can learn so much just f rom starting at page 4 and going to page 1 of any forum

i agree with you on some levels, but not everyones question can be answered by reading past articles and searching.

The point of having this section is because not everything is found by searching, everyone here knows that. I could be wrong but i dont exaclty think that questions that new people would ask could be found using the search feature.

Actually, you'd be surprised just how many questions can be answered by a thorough search. For the questions that can't be, I doubt anyone will have a problem replying to your thread as best they can.
Clearly, everyone has different levels of knowledge regarding different things, and there are very few "dumb" or "stupid" questions (assuming they're legitimate). However, people should also learn how to use the resources that are available to them in order to try to obtain the information they need. The H-T search function, as well as Google, Yahoo!, etc., are examples of such resources. The majority of H-T members are very helpful folks, but most of them like to see that an individual has at least made an effort to locate information before he or she posts a relatively simple or common question.

I agree 100%, but for example i remember once maybe a month and a half or so ago i was asking what's difference between a stock clutch and a stage 3 clutch, and i did search not just on h-t but googled it and didnt come up with anything. So i asked here on h-t and i said something like does the higher stage clutch just take more torque or something like that and some kid just basically laughed at me and put what i said in his signature. Now maybe what i said was dumb, but how am i suppose to know? thats why i asked and from that point on i just kept some questions to myself to save the embarrasment.
So that is why i think this new section would be good because i dont think im the only person new to honda's that feel that way, or maybe i am.

Maybe his questions came to him 'naturally' and not motivated by his own waste. (Like our compressed fart brothers in the other section. Hehehe) So keeping that in mind, the all motor forum is the right forum for him to post this?
