Default Ticking (searched)

I drive an h22a1 just rebuilt about 9k miles ago. I've read that a ticking from the head can be valve related, most likely needing a valve adjustment. Being that the motor was just rebuilt I don't think it needs an adjustment. And I had a small leak coming from the valve cover so I brought it back to the shop to replace the seal and take a look at the valves while they had it open. Turns out the valves are "perfect". What else could be the culprit? It's a very distinctive tick, I can hear it at idle and what ever speed I'm going. It is does get faster as the rpms climb tho. I'm still learning about hondas.. so maybe this ticking is normal?

what did they "rebuild"? just because they say replaced say the pistons/ bearings doesn't mean they did anything to the head or did a valve adjustment.

they rebuilt everything, engine hydrolocked. rod snapped, blew 2 holes in the block, smashed valves, broke the oil squirters, everything.. they remachined what was salvagable and replaced the rest. they tell me theres nothing wrong with the valves, just trying to find out if there could be any other problems. i'm sure the shop wouldve done there best to find something tho.. more broken stuff means more money for them to fix it.

well you could start w/ a valve lash adjustment, its pretty easy, and if that doesn't work move on to something else.

maybe the timing belt tensioner? also most hondas have a slight tick from the valves that is always there. changing the oil frequently helps minimize it though.

yeah, it does increase in speed as i rev the motor. injectors tick when they're on their way out? i use injector cleaner every few thousand miles.

hey dude, its winter now and when my engine is cold i have a clicking near the cylinder head. turned out it was one of the injectors, you can safely pull the power tab off one of them and see if the clicking stops. i hope i helped
