rust help
I just purchased a '87 CRX SI for $600 as a daily driver. Over both rear fender wells there is some rust. I took that stupid rubber stripe off, yet from the look of things the fenders need replacing in the near future. What is the easiest way to fix this?
Can I just find a donor car and cut the fenders off if they are rust free? Are new parts reasonable? What kind of labor cost and I probably looking at?
The car may become a full-time track car for me, so I want to get it fixed right. Any help is welcome!

rust can be very expensive to fix since its labor intensive.
you can get a donor car and cut the panels off you need. then they need to be welded onto your cut. then the welds need to be ground down and sanded. then primer and paint. as you can see, its LOTS of labor...
if you can do some of this yourself, you'll save some money.
you might be better to find a clean chassis and swap your parts into that...

yards vary from place to place so prices on body panels will vary.
Ideally you want to cut out the rust infected panel, and weld in a new one, if this gets done at a shop they will charge you and arm and a leg. If there are holes in the panels i would say bigger than the size of your fist you pretty much have to get panels welded in, cant half *** it.
If your cheap and the rust is minimal you can just get some bondo or fiberglass from trak auto and fix the rust yourself. It is by no means a permanent fix but if you take your time there is no reason why it wont hold for a couple of years.
