Default What is the proper break in for a ap2?

I just hit 105 miles on the way home from work. I have been shifting around 4 all day long, but i can't remember the break in period...

is it 600, 1200 or 1500 miles?

and after that you have to gradually increase the revs right?

for example...up the shift to 5xxxrpm for a while, then 6xxxrpm for a while and then 7 followed by 8?

it's like 900 miles... i just waited till i hit 1000 miles before i did anything crazy.. i did redline it a couple of times before 900 miles but only a couple times.... it won't hurt or damage anything....

and then oil change when you hit 5000....

i was told 600... i broke my car in going down to Wake the Dragon last april. I had temp tags on it still... lol..when i came home, i was over 1000.
also, go varying speeds, and not a constant speed all the time.. (so not just freeway miles).
i think there is a constant debate on break-in, but for what it's worth, that's how i broke in my ap2.

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on the break in period. I'd say 1500, just to be safe, but you'll likely not own it when it has 100k miles on it so its sort of a moot point. I bought my RSX-S with 13 miles on it and drove it pretty hard. I sold that with about 40k and had no problems.

Dude seriously. Theres no such thing as a "break in period". Drive the car normal like you would everyday. The way you break something in, wheather 2 or 4 stroke, is the way its going to run in the long shot. I learned this from a mechanic up the street from me and with all my dirtbikes. (No a dirtbike and a car arent the same so I dont want to hear it.) Just dont believe that break in theory and go about your business.

Beating the hell out of the motor in the beginning helps the rings seat better.

Pictures Frank. I didn't notice the clutch delay much, except that it makes the downshifts smoother in some cases. Take it to a 1000, then you can beat on it I guess.

Is something wrong with the factory recommended break-in procedure?
