Default burning oil, help!!!!

my friend has a 92 civic with around 230k kilometers, around 150k miles. His car is burning oil in the summer, but not a problem in the winter. When hot, it burns oil at a terrible rate, 1 bottle per 1k miles. what kind of oil can bring down the oil consumption? i remember i read synthetic oil might help. is that true? and why? Any help would be appreciated!!!

a different oil shouldn't help.

He might have fried his rings, or just terrible carbon deposts making the oil ring less functional.

You might want to try the honda ATF fluid trick to disolve all the carbon.

ALso replace the PCV valve as it can lead to oil burning.

If those tricks don't do anything, the rings are most likely fried.
