Battery light on! 1989 Prelude Si
my battery light has been on for a while now and just last week I went out to start my car and the battery was dead. I didnt have a battery tie down for a while but I dont know if that makes a difference. the wires did pull out of the positive cable one day while I was breaking hard. I have changed the battery and had the alternator tested and the light will come on when im driving and the lights and blower motor will dim. any sujestions to fix this problem?
I have searched and didnt find what I needed to know.

yeah, so the battery tie down is pretty important, it keeps the acid in the battery, keeps the battery from becoming an engine compartment projectile, keeps the positive terminal from touching every other piece of metal in the compartment which are all grounded, and keeps your positive clamp from having to conduct electricity and hold the battery in place. not optional equipment.
free advice with a money back gurantee:
1. clean the terminal clamps and terminals and make sure they are attached well to the wires.
2. charge and load test the battery at an auto parts store. Replace as needed.
3. check your main fuse, typically in the engine compartment fuse box and pretty big..see manual
4. strap down the battery however you can...use a nylon tie-down if you have to...but strap it down.
5. with a known good battery and clean terminals, have the alternator load tested. most auto parts stores around (major chains like AutoZone, O'Riley, Whatever) will bring a computerized torture tester out to your car and check your charging system for free. They can diagnose fun stuff like "low voltage output" or "diode pattern bad" etc.
hope this helps...

well the reason I had the batter tie down off was because on the way to N11 my friend's car didnt have one either and every time he shut the car off it wouldnt start back up. So I loaned it to him and forgot about it. but im taking it to have it load tested today.
