Default Help with wheel offset question.

My Si wheels are 15x6 with a 45 offset. I just bought Konig Greenlights 15x6.5 with a 40 offset. The tires are 205/50/15 Falkens.

Will I be ok? I'm already having rubbing issues in front with being too low and having 205 tires. I just want to make sure the wheel is not going to stick out any further than the stock wheel.

How low is your car? It's been awhile since I had to deal with wheels and offsets but I think the 40 offset makes up for the rim being wider so it shouldn't stick out more than your stock. I doubt that they'll rub much worse than your stock. Actually they shouldn't rub at all unless your car is exremely slammed. I've got 17X7 on my 97 civic and it's lowered about 1.5 - 1.75 and don't have any rubbing issues. Maybe the rubbing is caused by bad shocks or springs?

I'm dropped 2.25" in front. I've got Neuspeed Race springs with Koni Yellows on its highest perch.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that it will stick out further than the stock wheels.

2.25" is pretty low but like I said, the 40 offset will counter for the wheel being wider. Check Tirerack or the place you bought them from to see if they're made for a civic (most wheels are). It seems unlikely that they'll rub. If you had my wheels, then that would be another story.

Cool. I'll check with Tire Rack. I thought I read somewhere in a old post that for every .5 you add to the width you subtract .5 of the offset. So I would be right on the money.

Anything on or above the 40mm offsett will not rub on a 15X6.5 rim, so you should be fine.

The only possible problem is the Tire @ 205/50/15. I know for a fact the 195/50/15 would be a better choice for any drop beyond 2.25" for that offset

I have seen personally a 43mm offset with a 205/50/15 work beautiful with a 3" drop though.

I've also seen a 16" with a 38mm offset and a 205/40/16 fit without any rubing and a 3.25" drop, so go figure !

BTW, the rims from above are made by Rota and Konig, just a s a tip.
