non synthetic. Typically high mileage(100k) vehicles should not use nonsynthetic because they are known to actually have a slow oil leak with synthetic oil but you still could if you wanted to. Your intervals w/synthetic will be around every 5k miles compared to 3k w/non synthetic. Another positive side to synthetic is that it is said you get more gas mileage. The price for synthetic on the average oil change will be around 45$ . I would still recommend non synthetic though. Go with Castrol GTX and you'll be ok. Just my .02

Dude, do what you want, this isnt some high dollar race motor, just pick some oil to use, if you want to pay for synthetic than get synthetic, if you want to spend less than use conventional, not that hard of a choice.

synthetic is always better, but for the price, if you are not reving it really high or driving hard, regular oil or a synthetic blend is not bad

castrol 5 quart regular oil at Walmart it $8, syntec blend $13, full synthetic $20 and a fram oil filter for $4 and your done

I use Castrol Synthetic Blend in my car. Synthetic leaks way too much...very thin oil. Even with blend I have to add like half a quart every once and awhile and change it ever 2500 cause it gets black quick. I need a new motor >_<

i've been using full synthetic oil and have been doing fine. thats what my friend uses on his 92 integra and he runs it like crazy. every time he gets in his car its as if hes going to the track. Plus a lot of mechanics told me synthetic would be better for my GSR.

This GUy don't know jack crappp!!He just know how to talk out of his ****!!Always use synthetic oil is alot better for your car!!! Oil doesnt get too hot...... Use 10w/30 Mobil1 syn. Dont go to thick on the oil because your car will have hard time starting in the winter 50 degree!.. and honda motor don't use thick motor oil. Mostly 0w/20,0w/30,5 or 10w/30.............

syn is overkill. i doubt you beat on your car enough for it to be necessary. its probablly rice for you. buy some conventional oil and a honda filter. the filter will probably do more for you than what the oil would.

dude... take your heavy foot off the pedal and calm down... it doesn't matter what oil you use... given your heavy foot, your car will wear out since it's over a 100k and you don't know how it was maintained over all that time... if you maintained it the whole time prior, i'd say party on... but since you said you just got it, i'd say just chill... oh, and for your car knowing little about it, go with regular oil

Stories about synthetic leaking are just that - stories, not fact. Synthetic doesn't make your engine leak; if it leaks with synthetic, it almost certainly leaks with non-synthetic. And you can feel free to switch back and forth between synthetic oil and conventional oil at any time, with no ill effects from switching.

Advantages of synthetic oil: It flows better when cold, and it is more resistant to breakdown when hot.

Disadvantages of synthetic oil: It costs more.

Your choice.

(I use 100 percent synthetic oil in all my cars.)

I drive from Savannah, GA to Martinsburg, WV on a monthly basis. Just did it yesterday. Cruising with traffic at 5400 rpm at 90mph for ten hours straight (9 hours if I really haul ***) has got to be torture on an engine. I dunno man, I beat the hell out of that engine. I am willing to spend the extra $$ for a good stable oil, that has been tested to withstand conditions that most oils will just break down in. And its not that much more, like 20 dollars more. I'll spend the extra 20 on some good ****. BTW, my engine has 130k on it.

You are right about the filter. OEM is the best.

reason why veggie oil causes oil leaks is because they contain more chemicals in them then regular oil.

synthetic oil contains cleaning solvents which can cause oil leaks in older higher mileage vehciels. because the clean the gunk out of the seals or gaskets cause oil to seep thru. which was the case in my car.

i switched to synthetic or started to use synthetic because of the hype here on honda tech, at about 180,000 miles and all of a sudden, i got oil leaking thru my oilpan gasket and rear main seal.

before that, my engine area was 100% clean. no oil or grease build-up under the oil pan, no grease buildup under the tranny. a couple miles of synthetic oil, and i *** oil running down my tranny and grease buildup on my oil pan.

so, now im replacing my rear-main seal and oil pan gasket. and will be using syntheic blend from now on.
