ECU help for b18c?
Hey noob here...I just bought a 2000 civic si with a b18c swap...It's got the OBD I p72 ECU in it, so it wont pass smog since it's newer than 1996 and it has to have OBD II. Can I just replace the ECU with a p72 that is OBD II or will that cause problems? Thanks in advance...

Yeah it does. I think the motor is a '94 or '95 (designed for OBD I), so will OBD II even work at all??? If so, how deep am I getting myself by trying to switch back to OBD II. I've heard several opinions on what will work. A reputable engine swap company even said the p73 ecu (type r) would work, even though I have a GSR motor....Anyone?
no matter what you do, you still need an obd2 ecu. its not going to read at the smog station. i tried using a p28 on my 96 and it went blank. but when i used the original p2p ecu then it read it fine. guaranteed to fail if you use a obd1 to smog a obd2 car
NO matter. you will not pass smog. if the engine is older then the car. obd1 or obd2 it dont matter. its illeagal to put any older engine into a newer car. if you try it with an p2p 4 wire o2 you might pass. only if the guy smoging the car is a dumba ss and does not read the engine code
