Oil Pressure = HP?

Hi all,
we all know increasing compression ratio - will increase HP on an NA car.
my question is: can a substential increase in oil pressure also increase HP?
something that ive experienced myself with my 83 CRX a few years back. A few days before my Oil Pump basically ground itself to a hault, my car absolutely FLEW. Its a 1.5 Auto, and I was able to beat my friends who were driving 5 speed manual 1.5 CRXs as well as even a 1.6 Si.
Im not looking for smart remarks ... i want to make it clear. Im looking for some explanation if this is possible.
Cheers

i know that excessive crank case pressure is very bad on your seals, rings and = decrease in power....
It would make sense if on a poor oil circulating engine increasing the oil pressure to improve the oil circulation would yield less friction due to increased lubrication = a little bit more power..maybe 1-2hp

i think you mean low oil pressure. if your pump was going out, then it wouldn't be sucking up as much oil from the pan to route it thru your engine. most of the oil would be sitting in the bottom of the pan, thus reducing the oil being distributed onto your crank thru the oil holes and reducing parasitic losses from drag. in theory freeing up some HP until you spun a bearing. this is what an aftermarket deeper oil pan or crank scraper acheives. it gets the excess oil that is "just along for the ride" off your crank and lowers the total weight of the rotating assembly.

The oil pump - the wheels basically 'ground' themselves down. When we took it apart we've never seen anything like that happen to any other oil pump before. It litelarly had groves all the way in the actual planes - like a worn out disc rotor.
It could have been decreased oil pressure but I had no problems with the light comming up - until the moment the pump stopped pumping. So it was getting oil all the way up into the head and rockers.
Mattie_96: id argue it was more than 1-2HP. I kid you not - my friends couldn't catch me... off the line it pulled as good as my ZC now - and it was only a 1.5L.

lol...i understand SINISTR...wierd stuff happens all the time with my civic too....like after my mpfi swap....the civic turned into a little speed demon killing stock 15 sec cars with mods no prob...wierd stuff lol

It only lasted a week and then I was faced with a total rebuild as the little alluminim shavings off the oil pump went through the whole bottom end. Ended up changing all bearings, rings, redoing the head etc.
