Okay, so today i was sitting in my auto shop class and a buddy of mine and i got into an arguement. He said that the SR20DET will beat the LS/VTEC hands down. Now i didn't disagree with him on this. But as soon as i said that the LS/VTEC turbo w/ fm, would win hands down versus an SR20DET, he got all worked up about it. Now im NOT a motor guru but i think that a boosted LS/VTEC is going to win. I know it depends on the setup and **** but lets not get technical.

Cars:

240SX (SR20DET) vs 88 4dr EF (LS/VTEC)

The ls/vtec combo isnt even a Honda produced engine.

the point is that he thinks that the SR20 is a more superior motor over the ls/v turbo and that and sr20 can beat an ls/v turbo any day of the week.

you comparing two very different platforms that make very different power outputs with different mods. SR's in stock trim are not the fastest cars, but are decent. My JDM gsr with simple bolts. I also raced a friends SR20DET swapped S13, FMIC, exh manifold, hard ic pipes, intake, dp, exh, turbo outlet, on 10lbs of boost...on the freeway it was very very close. if your talking about stock bottum end SR's with upgraded turbo that can make over 450whp, your in a totally different world.

 

Well I got a full interior 1994 Integra LS w/ a basic b20/vtec. You can see the specs in my sig. But my friend swapped a red top sr20det into his s13 hatchback. He also had fmic, 3" turbo back exhaust, and HKS turbo manifold. Okay from 20 mph rolling start he would barely pull. Like we killed it at 120 and his rear bumper wasnt even at my door. So he beat me by maybe hood length. From 0-100 I beat him cause he spun a little through 1st and 2nd!! I also have the b16 tranny so I get there fairly fast. So A mild built ls/vtec in a ef chassis should be able to beat a bolt on sr20det. Just what I think!!

 

sr is engineered from the factory for FI, too many variables, what car they goin in, ect. you can have a pissing contest for a very long time

well typically the lsv will make more power per pound of boost considering same fi setup

 

i'd say the guy with the most headlight fluid and stickers. which one has the altezza tail lights? u have to get technical. but if its stock sr20det vs a lsvtec-turbo with 6 psi.. i'd put my money on the HONDA power.. nissan j/k
