usually they take the vin off the transmission.. but there is a vin # on the block right above the oil pan on the front. might not be able to see it without removing the bottom portion of the header though.

Whered you get that lifesaver?

Write the serial code from the block and run it through your local PD and see what they say.

careful with that, nothing against cops but i dont trust them. Even with that paper signed by the seller they might doubt you and arest you for having stolen property or somthing and then ask questions later. i tried carfax with my motor but i dont think carfax tells you if its stolen.

Is that your car??

That wideband placement makes me nervous just looking at it.

Plus it's not supposed to be mounted upside down like that, condensation can form and foul the sensor.

i would think like that too if there were no consequences but theres consequences for everything. In ny theres Auto-crime, and they drive around in unmarked veichles basically picking on civics and poping hoods and looking up vin numbers, motors, doors, frontends, hids everything.

That sensor looks like its like that because the exhaust is hanging. Once the **** is hooked up looks like it would be cool.

I suggest that you check it out for sure, all these people encouraging you to buy stolen goods are encouraging people to sell stolen goods, and they have to steal them to sell them...so I wonder who on this site that says who cares will get their **** stolen first (and prolly buy it back later too).

Stupidest advise.

If it comes up stolen.

1. car get inpound ( charge @ 45/d )
2. I don't know if they going to keep the car as it was part of a crime. Cause you suppose to realign the vin numbers to match the new engine serial #. Meaning you have something to hide. ( If not realigned ) But they'll want the engine.
3. no car no hotties
4. Bus fares

Take the engine to get inspect by a VTR
Most HWY Patrol are authorize to check.

no hotties = no buns

im surprised people actually said who cares, this forum is #1 in being PC, usually people get "hella" flamed for stuff like this. but yea i try not to buy stolen ****, or even things that might be stolen, too many consequences, if your car is hot, ull start becoming paranoid everytime your pulled over and karma sucks.

im a little nervous about the motor im putting in my integra, its out of my buddys 2001 gsr, he hydrolocked it and let me get the block in trade for a b16 bottom end.

however, when HE bought his car from the stealership apparently the previous owner trashed the motor that came in the car from the factory so the dealership put another one in i assume from a junkyard or something, but it has the vin plate removed.

so the block im using has no vin i wonder how much trouble i can get it in if i get caught. that would suck if my built motor got taken cause i bought a trashed block with no vins.

YEAH that's probably why they said don't say anything...

If you have reason to believe that it was stolen then I would take it in to get it checked. You don't want to get pulled over and THEN they find out it's stolen. Because it will look as if YOU stole it. But that's just my .02

white plains, ny bout 20 min from the bx and maybe 30 from nyc, i know i was told by a cop that in westchester county theres a "county wide crackdown on stolen hids" and my cousin was told by a cop in his car "nice lights, there hids?...i bet if i pop your hood right now ill find scratched vin#'s....get rid of them." the ... being my cousin answering him. i myself was pulled over twice in my own town and asked about my hids (if ur from whie plains watchout for a white van w/mass. plates, its a cop) im not from the city, but spend alot of time there being that i go to school in the city and have heard many stories about unmarked cars, ranging to navigator trucks just pulling you over and asking questions and peoples homes being raided for stolen motors, trannys etc. FnF style lol many of these horror stories on b20vtec.com

I know most of you complain about it and what not, but it’s for your own protection.
Up to about a year ago or so (before I put the exterior of my car back to stock), I used to get pulled over two to three times a week and get my **** checked, but I didn’t mind it all that much, because I knew that if it got stolen (and it almost did once), I would want them to check EVERY car on the road till they find who took it.
The only annoying thing was that it wasted my time and cops talked to me like I was a criminal, but since I had nothing to hide, I wasn’t afraid.

It’s kind of like complaining about paying a lot for insurance,
but if something happens and they pay up, you’ll be happy you had it
