okay i'll admit i didn't do a search on this but it's nothing difficult. Swapped over to a Y8 intake manifold yesterday and went to put on a coldair intake and realized theres no hole to go down to the fenderwell area. Is it like this on all D16Y7 made cars or just a hatch problem? What do people normally do with this, the only solution I see is to get a 4" hole saw and cut it open. I'm just surprised how many things are different on this thing.
I never knew that. IMO I would not run a cold air cut it in half, make a short ram., Hydrolock is a bitch. I cut my cold air, yeah there is no bracket to hold in place, thats were zip tie come in to play. end of the filter to a hold to chassis. behind the head light. works great lol.

There is no hole there, I think it's for all DX's and CX's, hatches and sedans/coupes alike (although there is no CX in sedan or coupe). The EX's had a resonator that went through a factory made hole there I believe. Just cut it out if you want to run a CAI, I would just run a short ram though.
Yup, the whole needs to be punched out, there is a little indentation where it needs to be. Dont cut the cold air intake, if anything, sell it and get a ram air instead and have some left over $, even if it is ten bucks.
I had a v2 intake and I loved how it was routed behind the fender and it was protected all around from water. Even if you did drive through a 3ft puddle, it would be highly improbable that you would hydrolock with the filter where it is.
I dont know where the CAi is routed, compared to a v2 but I would recommend getting a bypass and installing it midway between whatever bracket used to secure the CAI and the Throttle body so there isn't a lot of tension on the bypass. Better yet, just don't drive WOT through huge *** puddles. If you hit a puddle suddenly, let off the gas. Your filter has to be 100% submerged for you to hydrolock.
Personally, it feels like buying a shortram is pointless. Most of the engines come with what would be considered a short ram anyways.
