Acura Legend Caliper Brackets
I know this is the prelude forum but i know a bunch of people have done the legend caliper swap. I'm wondering if the caliper brackets from non dual piston legend calipers would fit on the legend dual piston calipers. Reason i ask is cause i can't find the dual piston calipers at a junk yard and the dealer/car parts places dont sell the brackets with the calipers.
I got my calipers from http://www.thepartsbin.com. Whatever they sent me fit right on my car. NO modifications were needed.
93-96 VTEC brake pads fit the calipers. You will need to use worn down 93-96 brake pad metal backings as shims though.
I like my brake setup. Obviously, I noticed a big difference on the track. Daily driving, it's not a worthwhile mod, trust me.
The only problem I have with them is the clanking the metal backings and the pads make when going over bumps. I need to fix that. Not sure how though.

I'll bet it made trail-braking a lot easier.
I've noticed the rear brakes on mine are a little weak.
AndyD...do you have your stock rear calipers? my right-rear is sticking...

you really noticed that big of a difference on the track??</TD></TR></TABLE>BIG difference? No. Only difference I noticed was consistent feeling throughout my sessions with the Legends. I was able to brake a little later into turns coming off of high speed straights. That's it.
If you are asking me if it is worth it to upgrade from perfectly working Si/VTEC calipers to Legends, I would say NO!! Is it worth the upgrade if your Si/VTEC calipers are bad and you street your car only, I would say NO!! Is it worth it to upgrade to Legends if your calipers are bad and you track your car, I would say YES!!
The reason why I "upgraded" was because the calipers needed changing anyway and I track my car, why not. If I didn't need new calipers, I would've just gone with a nice set of brake pads.
If my car was strictly a street car like most people on these sites, I would NOT have upgraded. There is absolutely NO need if you don't track your car. I did it just as more of a safety precaution.

I had to replace my rear calipers too. They are the regular Si rears that come on the car from the factory. I am not sure if my 4WS affects this but I did not notice any difference with trail-braking. My car behaves VERY neutral on the track. Even my friends are amazed. However, I have never driven a regular 2WS Prelude on the track to compare.

yep i have that exact same problem.. i think that the ledgend has some foil shims that are supposed to hold the pads, and they don't come with the bracker or caliper..

haha, yeah, i just noticed too
I actually need to know this asap so i can go down to kragen and order the dual piston calipers if those brackets will indeed fit.

The problem is that legend two piston caliper discs are 28 mm and prelude ones are 23 mm.
If you fix legend caliper + bracket to prelude knuckle, there is much bigger clearance between the disc surface and bracket than in legend.
If the pads become very very used, there is a risk the remaining metal part of pad will be dropped between disc and bracked, causing wheel blockage
The safest solution (that I did in my car) is to combine legend caliper and prelude vtec bracket, prelude vtec pads and to make a kind of inserts to make the pistons 5 mm longer as the disc is 5 mm thicker.

Yes we did. The answer is, he doesn't need them.

If i have to spend the money for new calipers either way, why wouldn't i get better calipers for the same price? So even though i may not NEED them, I might as well get the best bang for my buck. Wouldn't you agree?
