Gas only leaks when the car is running!
Hey, i posted on here a couple days ago about having a gas leak in my civic,I went out and check it out today, and it only leaks when my car is running,so im thiking it might judt be a gas line what do you guys think?
The leak is actually near the tank, on the drivers side right in front of the rear tire.Could it be my fuel pump?
I had a leak on a fuel line from rust. I ghetto fixed it by cutting off the rusted tip of the steel line and clamping the rubber line a little further down.
I had the same thing on my rex, the lines seem to rust right at the rubber gromet as they enter into the cabin. I just cut off the rusted part, and ran fuel tubing between the two cut ends. It's an easy fix.

Mine is rusted too, but not leaking yet. How did you cut the line. I don't want to use the dremel because I'm afraid I'll manage to create enough sparks to do something bad. Isn't that fuel line tough to cut through by hand?
Thanks for the help guys! Thats what it was the little piece of metal where it enter's the cabin,It was a bit annoying to cut the piece of but it went rather well. Thanks !!! And as for how to cut it i did it by hand with small hacksaw, i wanted to use my dremel but i also had the same concern's as you did.
mine is leaking right there also.. but i bought a new fuel line for 50 bucks.. but it's going to be a hassle putting it on..
gotta take off my dash and all this junk but i found a new place to run my nitrous:D hehe.. can someone supply pics of what you guys did?? maybe i can return the line..

The factory part is a better solution. Be careful with gasoline, obviously is't explosive. If you use rubber hose as a cheaper solution, make sure it's rated for fuel injection, higher pressure and safe to mate to gas. Also, make sure you clamp it very tight. Since rubber hose wasnt spec'd for this solution getting a size to fit tightly might be an issue; might not. If you need to cut the metal fuel line sometimes a pipe cutter fits. It only takes a few turns and you dont have sparks flying around. You should also check a runner replacement hose frequently as it can jar loose, or could become brittle and leak. The better solution is to replace it with a factory part so it's done and forgotten.

okay.. the other way seems so much easier.. the factory line i gotta take off hella stuff just to get to the line and i don't know how it hooks up to my tank.. don't know if it's on the tank or whatnot.. it's a hassle
i think i'll look into finding a hose... hehe. see if i can find a good one at that..
thanks alot..

I know this post is old but this is the only mention of fuel leak and EGR Valve that I have been able to find.
Would an EGR Valve cause a fuel leak when the car is running? I am having this same issue of fuel leaking only when the car is running but mine is under the hood right where the EGR Valve is. My fuel injectors are brand new so I do not believe it is a fuel injection issue. I was not sure if raw fuel could leak from the EGR Valve or not.

I have an 89 honda crx have noticed fuel leaking from front of gas tank and on drivers side by the fuel neck filler and overflow line. I replaced all the hoses on the drivers side of the tank. I ran it for around 10 mins to check for leaks. I then topped it off and took it for a test drive. Came back same problem. When I had dropped the tank I checked the fuel sending unit and fuel pump housing both looked good no fuel leakage was present in the area. So Im at a dilemma as to where the fuel can be coming from.
