i have a 2.2 and the engine idles at about 1500 and surges sometimes i think its the IAC valve or electronic idle control but im not big on diagnosing hondas im a ford guy someone please help a brother out

 

The IAC valve is always near the Throttle body. Take it off and clean it out good. Also be sure your coolant is topped off. It would be helpful to know what year it is.

 

Agreed, I'd suspect the IACM (Idle Air Control Motor). Not only does it get dirty, but it can also develop an internal vacuum leak; which can cause the "hunting" that you're describing.
For more specifics on a potential fix for this leak; you might PM deserthonda. I believe he spoke of this not long ago.

ya my car is a 94 and i did jus replace a heater hose and did a coolant flush so it could b the coolant low thnx

 

yeah I have a 94 EX too, the stock 2.2 in it... Mine's been idling wierd to, like tonight I was sitting in the parking lot and it drops down to 500 and surges to 1200 and back down. It needs a tune up desperately, probably an oil change too. I hope nothings wrong with the vacuum hose or anything like that...
