Bump

I will be doing the same thing with my B into my 88 accord. Where could you find the inserts for the mounts as well?

I've used 1/4" mild steel plate and 3/16 DOM mild steel tube to make mounts before. For the inserts, there's a handful of companies on the internet, Google can help. Alternately I have seen urethane inserts w/bronze guides at my local autozone, although I have never tried them personally.

i'm making completely solid mounts...not worth my time to make "insert" styled mounts....cause i'd pretty much want them as stiff as solid anyways....i figure it'll be cheaper just making solid ones

1/2 inch .120 wall steel tubing is the right size for the bolt.

I used 1/4" mild steel for a mount I had to make for a B series 3g accord we are doing right now. I had to modify an old Place racing mount that was designed for cable trans over to hydro.
As far as urethane inserts goes. I haven't tried it yet, but should work well. I had a custom come in with a Prothane insert for a eg/dc2 upper motor mount. Needed to press out the factory liquid part and then press in the 3 piece prothane mounts...almost similiar to the control arm mounts for your suspension. One center, 2 outers and the metal tube the bolt goes through. Keep in mind though, the center hole is offset, so if you use them be sure to design your mount around the replacement urethane.

Wow. That seems like it would cause alot of vibrations. was that going to be strictly a drag car?

the white one is now the "orange" coupe in my sig. the black one is a "street car" that i put together during the 04 summer. it was supposed to be for the sfwd/turbo4 class. but i was an idiot about ****. and the project was torn apart. the car is together with the solid mounts , but its rockin a stock b16swap/stock exhaust/stock intake/ stock interior/ heater/carpet/ 4 speakers.....still have the rear bumper diffuser on though, as i havent come across a stock rear bumper yet. one extreme to the other. i however have picked up a few parts for my hotrod hatch, and will be focusing on completing that on-going project.

you can get a nice set of energy suspension 300zx control arm poly bushings with inserts from Summit racing. think i paid like $30-$40 and there is enough bushings to make like 4 mounts.

or go on a site that sells energy suspension and look at what the different bushings loook like. buy the ones that you think will make a good mount

if you are speaking to me...

yes only tose 3 mounts. we have had a trans in and out of the car. its a real pita with the oil pump, and half shaft on the back side of the engine, the outlets on the oil pump are kinda in the way of the half shaft. so ya gotta loosen the oil pump to get the half shaft off the block.(speaking of the white/orange coupe race car) the mounts are solid, as far as we know they dont flex. but i could imagine they might flex a little?

Have the same mounts as dave in the car I race and now in my daily driver. It does not vibrate that much. But when you add the jim fab lowers it vibrates like hell.
